By Geeta Molahally
I am a dubai sun dried raisin my youth evaporated by desert years of a fulfilled life My material yearnings long met replete my maternal aspirations long realised complete I came here forsaking family, friends and freedom To find and form A new sense of freedom A family of friends For long I thought I Lived in Limbo Not owning A piece of The earth Until I realised That home is where The heart is And when your Heart is ‘at home’ That’s home! I am a dubai Sun dried Raisin Sun dried Leaving lines of varied ilk Bottom, laughter Frown and fate A sun dried raisin Or better phrased An Undated Date. I am a Dubai Sun dried raisin Though my youth’s dissipated I remain Essence-tially Young And core-perfectly Sweet. About the author: Touchy-feelyWordy wench Pens poems When she feels The wrench of A thought An emotion A hug A scent A memory Of a full life Well spent Anything That brings A smile A spring in the walk Heel-clicking in midair happiness Something to visit And revisit and enjoy The pore-permeating Goodness of being alive. |
