Meanderings, by George Arnold

I am grateful for the gift of you,
For with you is a better way,
Of growing together in love
And getting closer day to day,

As we walk through this world together,
Our love is not preconceived,
We don’t have to seek the path,
Or neutral ground achieve,

We don’t have to yield to each other,
Or change our selves to fit.
We don’t have to reconcile,
Differing notions of “it”.

We don’t have to stake out our boundaries,
Or deal with egos to feed.
We deal in love and trust,
And we end up with what we need

We started out with a commitment,
To love and mutual trust.
Firmly anchored on these foundations,
Caring for each other a must.

We discuss all our questions and feelings
Trusting each other to care
We examine tough questions and go,
Where others would not even dare

Our oneness becomes the foundation,
The basis on which all things ride.
Our love lets us care for each other,
And gives us no reason to hide.

We can talk about touchy issues
And examine them down to the core.
We’re secure in our love for each other,
Knowing nothing else comes before.

The trust we hold for one another,
Is a sacred thing deep in our souls,
We’re responsible in our commission,
Because it’s what’s keeping us whole.

We don’t consciously have to make effort,
We just love because it’s our way,
And by loving and hearing each other,
It comes back to us every day.

The standard of love and trust,
Is how we measure what matters you see,
And for other points less important,
We can agree to disagree.

In the end, we will be what we will,
But we will get where we go in love
We’ll trust in each other, as we do,
Till there is no sun above.
