Art and poetry by Darla Fisher-Odjig
Darla
There in the beauty of all that is sacred
A fineness of intricacy only beheld in all its glory
Refined in gold and relinquished in stories of all
The richness of old and new tattered in finery of distant faith
A warmth of rivers known only to few
Within there sits awaiting the birth of new
Against the crushed leafs of yarrow and cedar
The fragrance is strong but soothing to within
It basks against the bark and runs free as oceans are to flow
A light of endless purity and ever not to be still
Crashing still to boundless fear a haven of ecstasy born by light
Down to crevasses mounds off ancient bliss
Filled within the porous mounds it travels fervent without cause
Around the forks of streams and roots of barbarous terrain
Following a path that is made by unnatural means
Ribs of parched anger it billows over with haste
Toward the eminent lions it stalks
Rains beat down on hallowed out frowns made by hearts of steal
And in all its fervour
Plant yet another seed within
