Buddha and cat, by Kumkum Ramchandani

By Kumkum Ramchandani

He sits by the brass Buddha

In an apartment in Washington D.C.

What does he think?

Are they linked by some past life?

Every day the bond is renewed

Is it my imagination

Or do I see the Buddha glow

Do I see an aura surround the cat?

What is this strange synergy?

I take up my camera and click

I try and capture the intensity

When I reach home

I pick up my brushes and paint

Some strange electricity

Filters through my fingers

Its like I'm possessed

I paint day and night

The glow of the Buddha

The aura of the cat

And when I'm done

A lady from Vancouver buys my painting

“It captured my heart”,

“I found it mysterious and alluring”,

And now the cat is gone

The house is sold

But in my heart is the picture

Which touched me and touched

A lady in Vancouver
