Rosa Parks
A galvanizing spark
To a civil rights revolution
A call to an immediate solution
To racial injustice and inequality
Black people rose up and created solidarity
Not wanting to give in to a racist law
A woman who saw
That segregation was wrong--integration is important;
Black people belong.
Bus boycott in Montgomery
Taking a stand realized a discovery
That rallying together can work
It's not just a "quirk".
Average people can make a difference
The truth is a sword
Justice is an energy that comes from the lord.
Fighting unjust laws can go the distance
To make a country inclusive and fair for all
With ordinary people like Rosa Parks who didn't surrender to the squall.
Women make a difference all around the world;
Caution not used, not a big detour;
Rosa, you're a catalyst for eliminating racist institutions:
A woman who saw a change in motion--laws evolving using the constitution.
Rosa, you will be remembered, your spirit acclaimed
Rosa you are a unique soul--
And because of you the bells of justice for civil rights will forever toll.
