Entries are being invited for a new poetry contest centred around women.

The Oneal Walters Women in 2009 Poetry Contest, open to poets of both genders, requires that the subject be about women that inspire the authors. 

"Writers can use a character depiction or can use a triumphant situation or surprise us," according to the contest literature.

Poems should be original and unpublished. Winners will be notified in April 2009 and their names published on Oneal Walters' website.

The winner will receive US$110, plus be interviewed. Second and third place entries will receive US$60 and US$30 respectively.

There is a submission fee of US$7 per poem. Deadline for entries is March  12, 2009.
