Here are some of the questions we get asked most often. We will add or amend this list over time:
Who can contribute to Chapter & Verse? Chapter & Verse is a literary website that promotes the work of emerging and established Canadian writers.
Who can contribute to Chapter & Verse? Submissions are open to Canadian residents and citizens only. Items submitted must be the original published or unpublished work of the contributor. Canadian and international publishing companies may also feature excerpts from books, provided the author is Canadian.
How do I benefit? Chapter & Verse showcases your work for the world. This could help you get noticed by publishers looking to sign new talent. Submissions may be accompanied by a brief bio (1-2 sentences), author photograph, book cover (if any) and link to the author's website. You may also feature a direct link to an online store that sells your books (if applicable).
Is there a charge for this? No.
What type of work can I contribute? You may contribute your original works of fiction — poetry, prose, drama, songs/lyrics, and multimedia (audio-video/artwork) related to these literary compositions. Non-fiction works must be related to creative writing, self-development, or be inspirational in theme. Contributions of news items, notices of events, quotable quotes, etc. may also be made through the relevant sections. You may submit text files, MP3 files, audio and video clips and jpg images of art, author photograph, CD and book cover. Submissions may include one of each of the above. The editors will select what is possible and appropriate to use.
What are the requirements? The work must be your own original compositions, i.e., you must hold the copyright to the material submitted. You may submit one image and one chapter of your book/manuscript or one poem.
Do I relinquish my copyright? You retain your copyright. Please note however that your submission to Chapter & Verse is made on the assumption that you hold the copyright to the work and authorize the administrators to post your submission on the C&V website.
How often can I submit? Submissions are limited to one each month. Starting in the near future, there will be a Reader’s Choice prize awarded to the best contribution once every quarter. The editors will select five best contributions and visitors to the site will be allowed to vote on these.
How do I submit my article/item? You need to first register and log in. If you haven't registered, click on Create An Account under the Login module at right, and follow the instructions. Registration is quick, simple and free. Once you are logged in, you will see a 'Submit Article' link in a new User Menu at left.

Can I contribute articles to Chapter & Verse? You sure can! We welcome submissions of articles (please be mindful of copyrighted material. We only accept work from the copyright authority) on creative writing, tips on getting published, self-development, inspirational, etc. If submitting a relevant news item published elsewhere, simply provide the link to the online article.

Can I promote my services, act, performance, company, organization, group, etc., on Chapter & Verse? We will shortly be introducing a promotional page where you can place an advertisement for your event, performance, company, etc. We will have a special section for promotion of charity and non-profit literary groups, festivals and creative workshops. Poetry groups and organizations may list their events in our Calendar. Please go to the relevant section and enter your details. The editors reserve the right to restrict promotion of events that are deemed to be of a non-literary nature and not in the interest of the promotion of arts and culture.
